Derick is the manager of the Experimental Aircraft Engines Department at Penn Yan Aero.

Derick will speak about engine selection and installation for homebuilt aircraft.  He will also speak about general engine maintenance and care.  Derick will also allow plenty of time to answer questions from the audience.

February Meeting

FAA Sport Pilot Report

Wednesday February 9th

7pm-9pm

North Bailey Fire Hall, Amherst

966 Sweet Home Road

(Just South of Maple Road)

We have another special event for our February meeting.  Guido Hassig from the FAA FSDO office in Rochester will present a talk on the new Sport Pilot rules.  While we have heard and read a great deal about Sport Pilot from EAA, Guido will bring the perspective of the FAA.  He will help to clarify many of the questions pilots and future pilots have about the new rules covering this broad classification of pilots, aircraft, maintenance and medical issues.

Guido Hassig is the Safety Program Manager at the Rochester FSDO office.  He has played an active role in bringing many new safety programs and seminars to the region over the last few years.  He was also instrumental in setting up the electronic communications network for pilots to receive updated safety information, NOTAMS and other general information via e-mail.  The system he established is now the model the FAA is using across the country.  On top of that Guido owns and flys a beautiful J-3 Cub.  He understands aviation from the Sport Pilot’s perspective.

As always, there is no charge for the meeting.  Coffee, soft drinks and doughnuts will be available.  Please make sure to bring along an aviation friend to this special event to introduce them to our chapter.
