Fundraising
Counsel
Fundraising is a term
describing the process of systematically seeking and securing
contributions from individuals and organizations who, unlike grantmakers,
are not in the business of giving.

Potential contributors come from
an organization's various constituencies. They include vendors,
board and staff members, volunteers, service recipients (graduates,
patients, visitors, etc.) and their families, and members of the general
public who are supportive of the organization's mission.
Robert
J. Miller & Associates, Inc. provides a wide range of fundraising services
as described below: |
|
Annual Giving |
Annual giving is defined as the systematic solicitation of modest
gifts from large numbers of active and prospective donors, segregated by various donor profiles. RJMA provides annual giving
support services including database design, solicitation strategies, appeal
letter preparation, electronic funds collection mechanisms, and basic record
keeping. |
|
Major/Deferred Gift Solicitation |
This is the targeted
solicitation of larger one-time and scheduled gifts of $5,000 and up from
individuals and organizations. The personal, face-to-face solicitation
of large gifts from individuals or organizations ranks the highest among all
stress-inducing development activities. Some find it so stressful that
they all but ignore this abundant source of charitable revenue.
RJMA offers several unique donor cultivation
strategies that "guide" the donor to saying, What can I do for your
organization? RJMA representatives participate directly with
you in the actual major gift solicitation process. |
|
Special
Events |
A special event is any activity for which an admission
ticket is required, with the proceeds used in direct support of an
organization's charitable objectives. Examples include golf
tournaments, 5K races, auctions, recognition banquets, and charity
balls. Special events provide a continuing source of new donor
prospects. RJMA provides planning assistance from event
selection, to management, to marketing, to wrap up. |
|
Endowments |
An endowment is simply an accumulation of
invested funds, the earnings from which are used for specified charitable
purposes. RJMA assists in the creation of the endowment account,
design of the program policies, preparation of bylaws, and general
management of the endowment. |
